Job Purpose
To plan, coordinate and manage the school farm and agricultural activities to ensure productive, sustainable and economically viable farm operations while supporting agricultural education and practical learning for students.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Farm Manager will:
- Develop and implement the school farm production plan.
- Plan seasonal crop and livestock activities.
- Supervise land preparation, planting, crop management, harvesting and storage.
- Manage livestock production and animal health in collaboration with relevant professionals.
- Ensure proper feeding, watering, housing and general care of livestock.
- Monitor crop and livestock performance.
- Maintain accurate farm records, including production, inputs, sales, expenses and livestock records.
- Prepare farm budgets and expenditure requirements for approval.
- Manage the appropriate use and storage of farm tools, equipment, seeds, feeds, fertilisers and other inputs.
- Supervise farm workers and casual labourers.
- Ensure farm activities are conducted safely and efficiently.
- Promote environmentally sustainable agricultural practices.
- Support composting, soil conservation, water management and other appropriate sustainable practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve farm productivity and generate income for the school.
- Support Agriculture teachers in organising practical learning activities for students.
- Facilitate supervised student participation in appropriate farm activities.
- Ensure students receive appropriate safety guidance when undertaking farm work.
- Monitor farm produce and coordinate harvesting, storage and authorised disposal or sale.
- Prepare regular farm activity and performance reports for school management.
- Maintain cleanliness, biosecurity and hygiene standards within farm facilities.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Head Teacher or school administration.
Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Management, Agribusiness, Animal Husbandry, Crop Production or a related field from a recognised institution.
Experience
- At least 1 years of relevant experience in farm management or agricultural production is preferred.
- Experience managing institutional, school or commercial farms is an advantage.

- Basic budgeting and financial management skills.
- Good supervisory and leadership abilities.
