LABORATORY TECHNOLOGISTS – 4 POSITIONS
Job Purpose
The Laboratory Technologist performs laboratory investigations accurately and safely to support diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and disease prevention.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
- Receive, identify, label, and process patient specimens.
- Perform laboratory tests according to approved procedures.
- Prepare reagents and laboratory materials.
- Operate, maintain, and monitor laboratory equipment.
- Conduct quality control procedures.
- Record, verify, and report laboratory results accurately and promptly.
- Communicate critical or abnormal results through the appropriate channels.
- Maintain proper specimen storage and disposal procedures.
- Follow laboratory biosafety and infection prevention standards.
- Safely handle potentially infectious specimens and hazardous materials.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and registers.
- Monitor laboratory supplies and report shortages.
- Participate in equipment maintenance and calibration.
- Assist with internal and external quality assurance activities.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Qualifications and Experience
- Recognised qualification in Medical Laboratory Technology/Science.
- Registration with the relevant professional regulatory body where applicable.
- Valid practising licence.
- Relevant laboratory experience is desirable.
