The Housekeeping Lead is responsible for overseeing the cleanliness, hygiene, and overall presentation of the bar and lounge, ensuring a welcoming and sanitary environment for guests and staff at all times. This role supervises a small team of housekeeping/cleaning staff, coordinates daily cleaning schedules, and ensures compliance with health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the housekeeping/cleaning team, including shift scheduling and task allocation.
  • Ensure all public areas (bar, lounge, restrooms, entrance, seating areas) are cleaned and maintained to a high standard before, during, and after service hours.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the premises to ensure cleanliness standards are consistently met.
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment; place orders as needed and control usage to avoid wastage.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of cleaning chemicals in line with health and safety regulations.
  • Train new housekeeping staff on cleaning procedures, hygiene standards, and safety protocols.
  • Coordinate with the bar and service team to address spills, breakages, or urgent cleaning needs promptly, including during service.
  • Ensure restrooms are stocked, sanitized, and inspected on a regular rotation throughout operating hours.
  • Oversee deep-cleaning schedules (e.g., floors, upholstery, glassware storage areas, kitchen if applicable) on a weekly/monthly basis.
  • Monitor and report maintenance issues (plumbing, lighting, furniture damage) to management for repair.
  • Ensure compliance with local health, sanitation, and safety codes at all times.
  • Maintain cleaning logs/checklists and submit reports to management as required.
  • Step in to perform hands-on cleaning duties when needed, especially during high-traffic periods or staff shortages.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a housekeeping, cleaning, or facilities role, preferably in hospitality, bars, restaurants, or lounges.
  • At least 2 to 3 years of experience in a supervisory or lead capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and hygiene/sanitation best practices.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a small team.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks and stand/move for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by bar/lounge operating hours.
  • Basic literacy/numeracy for maintaining checklists, inventory, and reports.
