About Organisation:
Uganda Christian University (UCU) is an authentic Christian institution established by the Church of Uganda in 1997 in response to a call for quality university education with a Christian perspective. Uganda Christian University replaced the historic Bishop Tucker Theological College which trained clergy and educators during its 84-year history from 1913-1997. The local chief, Hamu Mukasa, granted land for the college to operate in Mukono.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Carry out a wide range of laboratory investigation and present results to clinicians.
- Keep reagents at required temperature, properly dispose of any expired reagents, and inform the supervisor of the expired reagents.
- Establish laboratory chemical needs, requisition and monitor proper use of laboratory supplies to ensure value for money.
- Follow established National Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in ensuring that safety
- measures are strictly followed and ensure safe disposal of laboratory waste.
- Ensure that laboratory equipment is occasionally serviced by calibrating and repairing them to avoid errors.
- Adhere to the laboratory code of conduct (keep confidentiality).
- Promote good Laboratory practice, including quality control measures.
- Maintain the general cleanliness of the Laboratory.
- Any other official duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Must have a Diploma of Science from a recognized Accredited Institution of Higher Learning in at least one of the following;
- Medical Laboratory Technology, Biomedical Sciences of BSc with extra training in Laboratory methods.
- Should have graduated not more than five years ago.
- Two (2) years’ work experience in a busy medical facility will be an added advantage.
- Must have fully certified/licensed to use standard medical equipment.
- Must have good computer skills (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Internet).
- Must be a person of high integrity with an excellent work ethic.
- Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines and be available to work after normal working hours.
- Must be a mature and committed Christian.
