Programme Specialist, Humanitarian Preparedness and Response, Kampala, Uganda
Oversight and follow-up to ensure quality implementation of other IFS humanitarian projects, including quality narrative & financial reports, Minimum Preparedness Actions (MPAs), development and submission of the annual Humanitarian Master sheet (HQ reporting), inter-agency reporting in Activity Info, and any other ad hoc reporting requirements.
Oversight for procurement and allocation of prepositioned humanitarian commodities provided.
UNFPA represented in humanitarian coordination platforms, ensuring integration and visibility of UNFPA mandate areas, for the refugee response.
Humanitarian programme implementation and financial expenditure tracked and implementing partners’ technical and financial reports reviewed in line with UNFPA requirements.
Substantive advocacy shepherded within line sectors ensuring incorporation of MISP for SRH into national policies and guidelines.
Resource gaps in the districts and humanitarian settings identified and lead the preparation of project proposals with humanitarian components.
Stand-in support provided for other programme team members as requested by UNFPA leadership.

Candidate must be a national of a country other than the country of assignment.
Requirements
Required experience
5 years of experience in development and population activities. ? At least 2 years work experience in the field of SRHR/GBV in humanitarian settings. ? Specialised knowledge and experience in SRHR/GBV and human rights programming and approaches will be desired. ? Experience working within interagency humanitarian coordination mechanisms and multi-stakeholder partnerships. ? Experience in programme/project management including experience in large multi-sector SRHR/GBV programmes. ? Demonstrated experience in donor relationships and/or resource mobilization. ? Field experience from a humanitarian setting is an asset. ? Prior experience in the UN system is an asset. ? A thorough understanding of the UN system in general, and especially UNFPA mandate, its policies and operations and current development topics and political issues in Uganda will be an added advantage. ? Demonstrated ability to work in a team.

Living conditions and remarks
The International UN Volunteer will be based in the capital city-Kampala. Kampala has pleasant climate all year round which is uniformly warm and moderately humid, and temperatures that range between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius. The duty station presents relatively good living conditions with adequate housing facilities (houses and apartments) readily available to rent, and with most of the economic and social amenities also available at affordable cost.
