ANAESTHETIC OFFICER – 1 POSITION
Job Purpose
The Anaesthetic Officer assists in the safe provision of anaesthesia and perioperative care under appropriate clinical supervision and in accordance with professional standards.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
- Assess and prepare patients for anaesthesia as authorised.
- Review relevant clinical information and investigations.
- Prepare anaesthetic equipment, medicines, and supplies.
- Assist with induction, maintenance, and recovery from anaesthesia.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and physiological status throughout procedures.
- Assist with airway management.
- Recognise and promptly respond to anaesthetic complications and emergencies.
- Maintain anaesthetic records accurately.
- Assist with patient positioning and safe transfer.
- Ensure anaesthetic equipment is cleaned, checked, and serviceable.
- Maintain appropriate infection prevention and control standards.
- Participate in pre-operative and post-operative patient care.
- Work closely with surgeons, theatre nurses, and other members of the surgical team.
Qualifications and Experience
- Recognised qualification in Anaesthesia/Anaesthetic Practice.
- Registration with the appropriate professional regulatory body.
- Valid practising licence.
- Relevant theatre or anaesthesia experience is desirable.
