Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Physics; or Physics and Mathematics; Geophysics; or Seismology; or Geology with (Mathematics; or Physics; or Chemistry); or Science and Technology with a bias in Physics plus a Masters Degree in Geophysics; or Seismology; or Geo-hazards from a recognized University/Institution.
Working Experience
Applicants should have six (6) years relevant working experience three (3) of which should have been served at Senior Seismologist; or Senior Geophysicist; or Senior Geologist level in Government or equivalent level of experience from a reputable organization.
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Assistant Commissioner, Geophysics and Seismology for performing the following duties:-
- Supervising maintenance of earthquake recording stations;
- Supervising timely collection of earthquake data and production of quarterly and annual bulletins;
- Supervising generation of technical information to the public on matters related to earthquake occurrences in the country;
- Supervising geotechnical investigations and geohazard assessment with appropriate seismic survey technology;
- Carrying out basic research on the improvement locations of earthquake events;
