Job Description

1. Communicating with clients and other members of the team to answer questions about materials or design changes
2. Reviewing drawings and blueprints to determine cost estimates based on materials, labor costs, overhead expenses, and profit margins
3. Identifying potential problems with materials or design that could affect costs or construction timeframes
4. Calculating costs and preparing quotes for materials, equipment, and labor from start to finish for refurbishment projects. Determining material costs, labor rates, and overhead expenses for each step of a project and adding them up to calculate an overall estimate
5. Forecasting labor costs by calculating the number of workers needed to complete the job based on their hourly rate and working hours per week
6. Consulting with workshop engineers, and supply chain team to determine costs for various materials, spares and equipment
7. Estimating the time required to complete a project by analyzing the scope of work and the resources available to complete the job

Qualification, Responsibilities and Skill

1. Qualification: Bachelor’s degree / diploma in Mechanical Engineering related discipline or demonstrated combination of equivalent education and experience
2. The estimating of mechanical systems involves service and maintenance of equipments like pumps, gearbox, compressors and piping works
3. Have extensive experience in a similar role ideally within oil & gas / manufacturing industry
4. Preparing order-of-magnitude, conceptual, feasibility, pre-design, budget, value engineering, control, definitive, and final Engineer’s estimates major change order estimates for work in progress
5. Ensure the efficient operation of all systems in accordance with the Management System
6. Analyze enquiry contents, extracting commercial requirements and advising all interested/participating departments of the requirements
7. Interpret the “Scope of Work” and where necessary, formulate and place Sub-ContractEnquiries and appraise subsequent responses
8. Attend “Pre-Tender Meetings” and “Site Visits” and assessing all salient features
9. Perform “Quantity Take-Offs” of materials and labour operations from G.A
10. 5+ year’s construction and project related experience
11. Possess a thorough knowledge of all engineering disciplines, maintenance repair and overhauling technologies and job site management

Salary per month: Basic UGX 4,376,586
