AgroWays (U) Ltd is a Private sector Agro-processing Organization with Headquarters in Jinja City dealing in high quality corn products for food and industrial applications in Uganda as well as grain warehousing. As part of our strategic journey, we are expanding our operations and strengthening our structures to meet our customers’ needs. We seek to recruit competent persons to fill the following vacant positions.

Job Summary:

The Driver is required to provide reliable and secure driving services by driving vehicles for the transport of authorized company goods and supplies in/out of Jinja head office under the authorization of the supervisor. He/she shall ensure that the assigned vehicle(s) is always in good mechanical condition and ready to move long distances at any time of day or night. The goal is to ensure cost-savings through proper use of vehicle, undertake timely minor repairs, arrange for major repairs, timely changes of oil, tires, brakes and car washing

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Safely Transport Personnel & Cargo: Operate vehicles to transport employees, agricultural samples,documents, and materials safely and punctually to designated locations.
• Conduct Rigorous Vehicle Inspections: Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, complete checklists, and ensure the vehicle is roadworthy before every journey.
• Maintain Accurate Vehicle Logs: Diligently record mileage, fuel consumption, maintenance, and trip details in the official Vehicle Log Book as per company policy.
• Adhere to Compliance & Documentation: Strictly follow all traffic laws and company regulations; maintain valid licenses/insurance; and complete all trip documentation accurately.
• Handle Cargo Securely & Verify Transfers: Properly load, secure, and unload cargo; verify contents against manifests; and obtain necessary signatures for handover.
• Coordinate Vehicle Maintenance: Schedule and coordinate preventative,maintenance and repairs with the Logistics Supervisor to ensure vehicle reliability.
• Ensure Professional Representation: Uphold the company’s professional image in all interactions with passengers, clients, and authorities, providing courteous service.
• Report Incidents Promptly: Immediately report any accidents, traffic violations, vehicle defects, or security concerns to the Logistics Supervisor.
• Maintain Vehicle Cleanliness & Presentation: Keep the assigned vehicle clean inside and out, ensuring it is presentable and free from contamination.
• Support Administrative & Office Tasks: Assist with logistical support tasks such as mail delivery, bank runs, and other errands as required

Qualifications , Skills and Experience

• O-Level Certificate (UCE).
• Valid Uganda Driving License: Class C, C1, CE for Trucks.
• Minimum 5 years professional driving experience with clean driving record (certificate of good conduct required).
• Defensive driving certification from a recognized institution.
• First Aid/CPR certification
• Basic mechanical skills for minor roadside repairs.
• Experience with GPS navigation and digital logging systems.
• Excellent knowledge of Ugandan road networks, traffic laws, and driving conditions.
• Proven experience with vehicle maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and daily inspections.
• Good communication skills
• Physical ability to load/unload cargo and assist passengers as needed

Working Condition:

Factory environment, Requires occasional weekend work

Experience in Months: 60

Level of Education: high school
