On behalf of our client TOTALENERGIES, we are looking for a competent, skilled, and experienced Environment Engineer to work in Kampala.

Job Description
Job Title : Environment Engineer
Reports to : Environment Operations Coordinator
Division: HSSE
Location: Kampala

Activities
The main responsibility of the job holder’s:
1. Provide technical guidance to other entities on all aspects of ESIA compliance and ensure effective collaboration with departments including TOTAL Uganda Limited (TUL), H3SE metier, engineering, enabling infrastructure, construction, drilling, logistics and operations teams involved in project execution.
2. Ensure compliance with conditions of approval for ESIAs and implementation of TEPU Management of Change process
3. Develop and manage contactor scopes in relation to environmental studies, permitting and surveys
4. Coordinate the development, review, submission and implementation of individual EIAs and project briefs that are required for project activities e.g. associated facilities, G&G surveys etc.
5. Ensure that baseline data is reviewed on a regular basis and updated as and when required
6. Coordinate field teams engaged in field surveys, data collection and interpretation
7. Attend stakeholders engagements at local, district and national level with respect to ESIA compliance in line with project SEPs
8. Cooperate with other entities to ensure that environmental permits, licences, authorisations, notifications and consents (PLANC) are obtained in a timely manner.
9. Develop, issue and maintain Environmental and Social Management Plans for all activities and sites.
10. Prepare and present summary materials for stakeholder consultation meetings.
11. Participate in the development and execution of ESIA and IFC training materials for other entities.
12. Cooperate with other company Departments to ensure implementation of affiliate H3SE Plan and more specifically, the environment objectives contained therein.
13. Maintain awareness of and ensure compliance with all relevant statutory and company H3SE standards for all project entities including contractors.
14. Participate in the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of the affiliate H3SE management system in line with Good International Industry Practice and relevant management system standards.
15. Coordinate efforts for quality assurance/control in all aspects of the implementation of monitoring, and evaluation programs, and ensuring appropriate levels of documentation at all stages.
16. Assist in the preparation of responses to enquiries and claims regarding company environmental protection and performance.
17. Contribute to building and maintaining an open and trusting relationship with authorities and regulatory agencies such as National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU), Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE), Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), etc.
18. Other activities which may arise and are related to the job assignment

Qualifications/Experience required
Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or related discipline

Experience:
1. 3-5 years professional experience in an environment team in an operational setting (preferably oil and gas or other similar industry)
2. Thorough knowledge and understanding of Uganda national environmental legislation.
3. Thorough understanding of globally accepted ESIA methods
4. Good understanding of Company Management System and ISO 14001
5. Good understanding of International best practices and standards e.g. IFC, IPIECA
6. Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines
7. Project Management skills
8. Strong report writing and analytical skills
