Job Summary: The Loan Supervisor will primarily manage the Credit underwriting process at the Branch, reduce the bad debt loss by ensuring that loans are approved, disbursed and recovered in line with the Credit policies and procedures, Business Strategy, and set targets and regulatory requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
A Loans Supervisor is expected to ensure;
- Maintain quality of the Branch loan book as represented by the PAR indicator within acceptable standards in line with target.
- Participate in preparation of Branch Annual Operational Plans and Budgets drafts.
- Make credit policy amendment and new product proposals for further discussion and approval.
- Undertake client’s mobilization and sensitization drives for each staff to attain the acceptable caseloads.
- Achieve complete loan file documentation and loan security perfection before disbursement.
- Achieve a service turnaround time of 2 working days in loan disbursement.
- Conduct a minimum of 8 spot checks in a month.
- Submit weekly and monthly arrears reports.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports on cases under litigation.
- Submit weekly and monthly Loan portfolio and supervision.
- Submit Recovery Commission reports on a monthly basis.
- Convene at least two (2) arrears meetings in a month and submit minutes there-of.
- Ensure that all Loans Officers sign annual performance Agreements
- Train/mentor/coach new Loans Officers on their roles.
- Support Loans Officers on PIP and submit monthly report on their performance.
- Prepare and submit a report on any suspected fraud and embezzlement of funds by staff.
- Ensure that Loans Officers are motivated and engaged at work by providing them with necessary support and incentives as per policy provisions.
- Ensure Loans Officers are compliant to all internal credit policies, procedures and sound business practices.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: A Loans Supervisor is required to have:
- At least 3 years’ work experience in the same role from a microfinance institution.
- Solid understanding of Lending policies and procedure.
- Ability to conceptualize credit risk inherent in the Institution’s lending products and the ability to contribute to Internal Credit assessments and Portfolio strategy discussions.
- Familiarity with legislation and statutory requirements relating to credit approval, administration and monitoring.
- Conceptualization and analysis skills to understand credit proposals to great detail and discover underlying issues.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Ms. Word, Excel and PowerPoint presentation.
- Ability to comprehend and analyze financial statements in regards to credit risk.
- An understanding of local and global dynamics of the business environments facing customers, Hofokam and other stakeholders.
- Good performance management skills and knowledge.
- Excellent credit analysis skills.
- Good supervisory & leadership skills.
- Personal ethics and integrity.
- Excellent people management and relationship Skills (Interpersonal, customer service and strong sense of team work skills).
- High level of commitment and ability to work under continuous work pressures, long hours and out of work hours with minimum supervision.

- Excellent report writing skills, high level of computational accuracy and the ability to comply with deadlines.

- Ability to manage and handle multiple tasks.
- A valid driving/riding permit as per the Republic of Uganda’s traffic Laws.
