Job Summary
The Department of History at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) invites applications for a part-time (50%) non-regular, one-year faculty position, specializing in East Asian and World History. Specialists in Japanese history are particularly encouraged to apply. Expertise in Korean or S.E. Asian history is also welcome.
This posting also provides opportunity for qualified candidates to be added to our qualified sessional faculty, from which we select eligible instructors when contracts for individual courses become available.
We are seeking individuals who meet the following qualifications:
Scholarly expertise in East Asian and World History;
A demonstrated record of teaching excellence at the undergraduate post-secondary level;
An M.A. in History (Ph.D. preferred);
A student-centred approach to education;
A strong understanding of and demonstrated commitment to a broad liberal arts tradition in education.
A complete application includes a cover letter; current curriculum vitae; a statement on teaching philosophy; samples of research/publications; copies of transcripts of graduate degrees; teaching evaluations; and the names of three referees able to comment on your teaching ability and academic accomplishments. Syllabi from previous courses taught are strongly encouraged.
