LABORATORY TECHNICIAN
Job Purpose
The Laboratory Technician will support the laboratory team in specimen processing, testing, documentation, equipment maintenance, and delivery of timely and reliable laboratory services.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, receive, label, and prepare specimens for analysis.
- Perform routine laboratory tests within the scope of practice.
- Prepare reagents and laboratory materials as required.
- Operate laboratory equipment correctly.
- Record and document test results accurately.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and report faults promptly.
- Follow quality-control procedures.
- Maintain adequate stocks of reagents and consumables.
- Dispose of specimens and laboratory waste safely.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory.
- Observe infection-control and biosafety procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Qualifications & Skills
- Relevant qualification in Medical Laboratory Technology/Science.
- Valid professional registration/licence where applicable.
- Previous laboratory experience is an advantage.
- Good technical and organizational skills.
- High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
