Job Purpose Ensure effective implementation and monitoring of health, safety and environmental systems that support safe construction activities, compliance with applicable requirements and a strong workplace safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation of health and safety policies, procedures and site controls in line with applicable requirements and organisational standards
- Coordinate hazard identification and review risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work before activities begin.
- Conduct regular site inspections, document findings and verify that corrective measures are implemented effectively.
- Monitor employee and subcontractor compliance with approved safety procedures, PPE requirements, site signage and hazard controls.
- Coordinate safety inductions, toolbox talks and relevant training, maintaining accurate attendance and competency records.
- Lead incident investigations, ensure timely reporting and follow through on corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain current risk registers, inspection records and safety documentation to support audits and management review.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Health or a related field.
- Professional training or certification in health and safety.
- A minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in construction health and safety management.
Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements and construction safety standards.
- Strong risk assessment, hazard identification and incident investigation skills.
- Effective communication, training, safety documentation and reporting abilities.
