Title: Training Consultant
Contractor will be based in Kampala, Uganda with travel to other sites as necessary, and will provide consulting services over the period of six months from March 1st 2023 through August 31st 2023.
About ORAM
Alight is implementing a project with ORAM which protects and empowers exceptionally vulnerable asylum seekers and refugees globally, creating sustainability and systemic change. We assist vulnerable asylum seekers and refugees on every step of their journey, working along displacement routes and in transit countries. We connect individuals with the resources and opportunities they need to build safe, stable and empowered lives.
About the Project
Vulnerable and marginalized groups often live on the edge of society, in isolation, and are therefore often unable to access available services. ORAM will be conducting an in-depth needs assessment in order understand the unique challenges and needs vulnerable and marginalized asylum seekers and refugees face in the refugee settlements in Uganda. A gap analysis of existing services will be conducted to understand what support is available to vulnerable individuals and what support is still needed. The information from the needs assessment will provide the basis for a series inclusion training session, which will be provided to service providers and duty bearers in the settlements, providing them with the tools to ensure their programmes meet the needs of everyone they serve.
Purpose and Objectives
• To increase the accessibility of program services to marginalized and vulnerable groups for more inclusive programing in Uganda – Nakivale, Oruchinga, Kyangwali, Kyaka II, Rwamwanja settlements.
• To strengthen the knowledge and skills of duty bearers and services providers on inclusion of marginalized and vulnerable groups in planning for services.
• To provide training sessions to provide duty bearers and service providers with an understanding of inclusive programming and working with marginalized and vulnerable groups.
Specific Activities
• Inception report outlining the training plan, schedule, target groups etc., based on assessment report
• Set up and hold meetings with ALIGHT, UNHCR and OPM to discuss the consultancy and initial plans for the trainings and solicit input
• Evaluate the impact of the training sessions on inclusive programming;
• Draft report on training impact;
• Dissemination of the training findings
• Provide regular reports to ORAM’s Senior Program Manager;
• Act as the organization’s point person and ambassador in Uganda;
Deliverables and Timeline
• Inception report with detailed training plan and workplan.
Deadline: 15th of March 2023
• Finalised training content for upcoming training session.
Deadline: 31st March 2023
• Discussion with UNHCR and OPM on upcoming training sessions – present training content and plan.
Deadline: 7th of April 2023
• Invitation letters sent out to mapped service providers.
Deadline: 10th of April 2023
• Final list of trainees / participants.
Deadline: 17th of April 2023
• Conduct training sessions in identified settlements.
Deadline: June 30th 2023
• Evaluation of training sessions and draft report.
Deadline: July 31st 2023
• Final training report.
Deadline: August 25th 2023
Skills and experience we are seeking:
• Relevant qualifications suitable for this consultancy i.e., Inclusivity, Trainer
• Experience in training on inclusion with demonstrated evidence of experience i.e. submission of training reports
