The Board of Governors Kyebambe Girl's Scondary School is located in Fortportal City-Kabarole District Western Uganda invites qualified and competent applicants for the following:

Job Purpose

To plan, deliver and assess quality Agriculture lessons in accordance with the Uganda secondary school curriculum, while developing students’ practical agricultural knowledge, skills, attitudes and entrepreneurial abilities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Agriculture Teacher will:

  • Plan and prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching materials and assessment activities.
  • Teach Agriculture effectively at the assigned levels.
  • Conduct practical agricultural lessons and demonstrations.
  • Supervise students during practical activities, school farm activities and agricultural projects.
  • Assess students through continuous assessment, tests, practical work and examinations.
  • Mark and record students’ academic performance and provide appropriate feedback.
  • Identify students’ learning needs and provide remedial support where necessary.
  • Integrate modern and sustainable agricultural practices into teaching.
  • Encourage students to appreciate agriculture as a source of food, employment, income and entrepreneurship.
  • Participate in school agricultural projects, including crop production, livestock management and related activities.
  • Maintain appropriate records relating to teaching, assessment and practical activities.
  • Ensure proper use, storage and maintenance of agricultural tools and equipment.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development.
  • Support students in agricultural clubs and co-curricular activities.
  • Participate in school duties, assemblies, meetings, examinations and other assigned responsibilities.
  • Promote discipline, safeguarding, hygiene and positive values among learners.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Head Teacher or relevant supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A recognised Diploma or Degree in Education with Agriculture as a teaching subject from a recognised institution.
  • Registration with the relevant education authorities in Uganda will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • Relevant teaching experience in a secondary school is preferred.
  • Experience in practical school agriculture projects will be an added advantage.

  • Strong teaching and classroom-management skills.
  • Practical agricultural knowledge.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with adolescent girls in a supportive and professional manner.
  • Creativity and ability to use learner-centred teaching methods.
