Job Summary: The Zonal Collections Officer (ZCO) plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective recovery of outstanding loan repayments within an assigned geographical zone. The position exists to supervise and support Collections Champions, ensuring set collection targets are achieved in line with Bayport’s credit policies and customer service standards. This role is key to maintaining healthy portfolio quality and minimizing the organization’s credit risk

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervision & Team Management: Lead and support a team of Collections Champions by assigning tasks, monitoring daily performance, and providing on-the-ground guidance to optimize collections.
• Target Achievement: Monitor and ensure that monthly, weekly, and daily collections targets are met or exceeded in the assigned zone.
• Portfolio Monitoring: Track delinquent accounts and implement strategies for timely recovery of overdue loans.
• Reporting: Prepare and submit timely and accurate reports on collections performance, challenges, and customer feedback to the Arrears Coordinator.
• Client Engagement: Follow up on escalated default cases, negotiate repayment plans, and ensure client compliance with agreed terms.
• Training & Development: Identify training needs and build capacity of Collections Champions to enhance field performance and compliance with procedures.
• Field Visits: Conduct regular field visits to monitor collection activities.
• Stakeholder Engagements: Visit different votes with pending payments and build strong vote relationships.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards during all collection activities.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Microfinance, Or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Postgraduate training or certifications in Credit Management, Debt Recovery, or Leadership & Supervision are an added advantage.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in credit collections, loan recovery, or portfolio management.
• At least 2 years in a supervisory or team leadership role, preferably in a field-based financial services environment.
