TUTOR – MIDWIFERY – 2 POSITIONS
Job Purpose
To provide high-quality theoretical and practical midwifery education and prepare students for competent, ethical and safe professional practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver midwifery lessons in accordance with the approved curriculum.
- Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching materials and assessments.
- Teach students using appropriate adult-learning and competency-based approaches.
- Facilitate practical demonstrations and skills-laboratory sessions.
- Assess students' theoretical knowledge and clinical competencies.
- Provide academic guidance, mentorship and counselling to students.
- Supervise students during clinical placements where applicable.
- Liaise with clinical sites regarding student learning and performance.
- Maintain accurate student attendance and assessment records.
- Identify students requiring additional academic or practical support.
- Participate in examinations, moderation and curriculum review activities.
- Promote professional ethics, patient safety and respectful maternity care.
- Participate in departmental meetings and academic activities.
- Keep up to date with developments in midwifery practice and education.
- Participate in research, community outreach and continuing professional development.
- Perform other academic duties assigned by management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant professional qualification in Midwifery from a recognised institution.
- Valid professional registration and practising licence where applicable.
- Teaching/training experience in a nursing or midwifery institution is an advantage.
- Strong clinical and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor students.
