Job Summary

The Accounts Officer manages financial records related to The Amazima School and Amazima Ministries International. An accounts officer initiates and reviews payments done, confirms the appropriate bookings, and reviews periodic reporting of the organization’s records. As an Accounts Officer, you will be expected to uphold a high standard of financial care, cooperation, organization, and attitude in the workplace.

ACCOUNTS OFFICER JOB DESCRIPTION

Amazima Ministries International is based in the Buikwe District.  Amazima’s mission is to live out the love of Jesus by educating and empowering the people of Uganda and the communities we serve.  The Amazima School is a Christ-centered Primary and Secondary School that exists to equip Ugandan students with the tools of learning to enable them to live fully for the glory of God.


The Accounts Officer manages financial records related to The Amazima School and Amazima Ministries International. An accounts officer initiates and reviews payments done, confirms the appropriate bookings, and reviews periodic reporting of the organization’s records.  As an Accounts Officer, you will be expected to uphold a high standard of financial care, cooperation, organization, and attitude in the workplace. 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Handling mobile wallet petty cash system (Beyonic interface) by initiating and ensuring the funds have been paid to the respective staff or supplier based on the authorized transaction
  • Reconcile petty cash statements daily
  • Generate monthly reports to enable more efficient decision making with regard to organization budget and cash needs
  • Engage staff in the proper use of local purchase orders and requisition forms
  • Assist directors and procurement staff in identifying relevant suppliers to be added to the approved supplier list for new products/services, 
  • Assist directors and procurement staff in requesting quotations and negotiating prices for items 
  • Follow up with suppliers and resolve tax issues that arise relating to finance
  • Assist all departments with stores management for all departments including the establishment of re-order levels for those that keep stocks and spot checks to ensure accuracy of records
  • Update asset register and run and review asset reports
  • Backup any of the Finance team staff’s roles in their absence
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • Professing believer in Jesus Christ
  • Knowledge of and experience in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
  • Knowledge of accounting software (Sage Intacct) is a plus
  • Able to write and communicate effectively in English
  • Creative in providing options and making recommendations to solve issues.
  • High level of integrity
  • Hardworking, friendly, focused, and able to work as a team
