Job Summary

We are looking to hire a dedicated and skilled Family Cook to prepare meals according to our preferences and dietary needs. The Family Cook responsibilities include preparing meals for events that are hosted in our homes, such as small dinner parties or special events, locating specialty items, such as organic or gluten-free products.

  • Minimum Qualification: Diploma
  • Experience Level: Entry level
  • Experience Length: 5 years

Job Description/Requirements

To be successful as our Family Cook, you should be detail-oriented and knowledgeable of different cuisines. Ultimately, a top-notch Family Cook should be able to handle constructive criticism as well as demonstrate exceptional communication and time management skills at all times. From time to time the family prefers to prepare their own food, at these times it is expected that the family cook will help with other household duties such as cleaning and housekeeping. You should also ensure that meal ingredient are stored at the correct temperatures to prevent spoilage. You should also maintain detailed records of food allergies and dietary restrictions. The job comes with accommodation provided and one meal a day. 


JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Conferring with the family to determine their meal preferences, specifications, food allergies, and dietary restrictions.

  • Preparing customized meal plans for family members based on their preferences, specifications, and dietary needs.

  • Preparing meals for special occasions like birthday parties, dinner parties etc.

  • Baking a variety of cakes and cookies.

  • Shopping for meal ingredients as well as necessary kitchen tools and equipment.

  • Inspecting meal ingredients before making purchases to ensure that they are of the highest quality.

  • Preparing meals kitchens in accordance with food health and safety regulations.

  • Cleaning and sanitizing work areas before and after meal preparation.

  • Appropriately packaging and labeling prepared meals that are to be consumed at a later date and cleaning and housekeeping as required.


    REQUIREMENTS

    • High school diploma

    • A diploma in  Culinary Arts is preferred.

    • Proven culinary experience.

    • Sound knowledge of different cuisines as well as food health and safety regulations.

    • A strong understanding of nutrition.

    • The ability to handle criticism.

    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

    • Effective communication skills.

    • Detail-oriented.
