1.ABOUT TOWERCO OF AFRICA UGANDA

TowerCo of Africa Uganda Limited operates critical telecommunications infrastructure across Uganda and Tanzania, serving major operators MTN, Airtel, and LYCA. We manage hundreds of passive infrastructure sites with sophisticated remote monitoring, data analytics, and field operations. We’re committed to operational excellence, data-driven decision-making, safety, and environmental sustainability.

2. THE ROLE

We seek a data scientist and operational leader to own our assurance and analytics layer — the bridge between field maintenance, operational systems, and management reporting. You’ll combine advanced analytics (machine learning, statistical modeling) with operations expertise to drive fuel efficiency, maintenance quality, vendor accountability, and continuous improvement. This is a strategic yet hands-on role where your insights directly shape field team success and operational performance.

3. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

3.1 Analytics & Fuel Optimization

Build and maintain machine-learning models for fuel forecasting, anomaly detection, and equipment failure prediction. Investigate fuel drops and load variations. Quantify and drive OPEX savings from fuel efficiency initiatives.

3.2 Maintenance Assurance & Reconciliation

Own monthly PM/CM reconciliation against system records. Reconcile vendor costs and penalties. Maintain a consolidated open item register for every dispute, defect, and anomaly. Ensure 100% evidence and sign-off.

3.3 Data Quality & Governance

Manage Site Master accuracy and completeness. Build automated data-quality rules and dashboards. Align asset data across O&M, Finance, and Projects. Define data ownership and control procedures.

3.4 Systems, Processes & Quality

Act as business owner for work-order systems and RMS integration. Design and document O&M processes and procedures. Run risk-based QA audits across 100% of sites. Drive 5+ improvement initiatives per year with documented savings.

4. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You combine data science expertise with operational credibility. You’ve built applied machine-learning models on real operational data and led field teams or operations to measurable improvements. You’re fluent in Python and SQL, comfortable with Power BI dashboards, and equally at home discussing statistical rigor with engineers. You understand power systems, fuel management, and the realities of field maintenance. You build trust with field teams by positioning yourself as an enabler, not an inspector. You move quickly, document your work, and are never satisfied with a single explanation.

5. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

6. WHY JOIN TOWERCO

Lead data-driven transformation of critical infrastructure operations. Build analytics capabilities that drive millions of dollars in OPEX savings. Manage hundreds of sites across two countries serving millions of users. Work with major telecom operators — MTN, Airtel, LYCA. Bridge the gap between field teams and management through data and process excellence. Build and mentor a high-performing operations team. Rapid career growth in a fast-scaling, technically sophisticated organization. Impact East Africa’s telecommunications infrastructure.
