JOB DETAILS:
To provide efficient, accurate, secure, and customer-focused teller services in line with the Bank’s operational procedures, regulatory requirements, and service standards. The role is responsible for handling cash and customer transactions, supporting digital banking adoption, ensuring compliance with risk and control measures, and contributing to customer satisfaction and business growth.
Business Development & Customer Relationship Management
- Promote and cross-sell the Bank’s products and services including savings accounts, loans, cards, bancassurance, and digital banking solutions in line with branch business targets.
- Promote and guide customers on the use of digital and self-service banking channels (e.g., mobile, internet, banking agency).
- Identify customer needs and refer potential business opportunities to relevant relationship teams.
- Support customer retention through excellent service delivery and proactive customer engagement.
- Participate in branch sales campaigns, activations, and customer acquisition initiatives.
Service Delivery & Operations
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently including cash deposits, withdrawals, transfers, cheque transactions, standing orders, and bill payments.
- Handle foreign exchange transactions in compliance with approved rates, policies, and Bank of Uganda guidelines.
- Verify transaction authenticity and ensure completeness of supporting documentation before processing.
- Deliver exceptional customer experience by attending to customer inquiries, complaints, and requests professionally within agreed turnaround times.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling customer information and transactions.
- Ensure branch opening and closing procedures are adhered to as assigned.
Risk Management, Compliance & Internal Controls
- Adhere to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter Terrorism Financing (CTF), Know Your Customer (KYC), and sanctions screening requirements.
- Detect and escalate suspicious transactions, fraud attempts, forged documents, counterfeit notes, or unusual customer activity in accordance with Bank policy.
- Ensure compliance with Bank of Uganda regulations, internal policies, operational manuals, and audit requirements.
- Maintain teller cash limits and ensure timely cash evacuation and replenishment through the vault custodian.
- Balance cash, suspense accounts, and teller positions accurately at end of day and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
- Safeguard cash, security items, stamps, passwords, and transactional instruments assigned to the teller station.
- Ensure proper filing and custody of transaction records, vouchers, and supporting documentation for audit trail purposes.
- Participate in internal audits, compliance reviews, and operational risk assessments.
Operational Efficiency & Reporting
- Prepare and submit accurate daily transaction reports, proof sheets, and reconciliations within agreed timelines.
- Support branch operational efficiency initiatives and continuous process improvement activities.
- Ensure minimal transaction errors and maintain acceptable operational risk standards.
- Assist in ATM balancing, cash loading support, and branch cash management activities where required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the teller workstation in line with operational and security standards.
Teamwork & Other Responsibilities
- Support colleagues during peak periods and contribute to a collaborative branch environment.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, compliance sensitizations, and performance review sessions.
- Keep updated on banking products, operational procedures, regulatory changes, and service standards.
- Perform any other duties assigned by management from time to time.
